Hi, I’m Cody Burleson, a writer and freelance software engineer.

Welcome to my home base on the web—a blog, online notebook, sketchbook, scrapbook and mad software science lab. In addition to writing stories and software, I also like hiking, camping, and off-roading around the Colorado Rockies. I often share what I discover and learn, so if you're into that stuff too, you might find something you like here.

My Active Projects

Following is a list of things I'm currently working on.

Writing Projects

  • The Cage
A nonfiction book about the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines in the Vietnam War. The Cage is only a working title which refers to a key event in the story called Operation Beaver Cage. I hope to publish the book sometime in 2023. For more information about the work, or to join the project's mailing list, see: The Cage.

Software Projects

  • DX Power Tools
A suite of tools for the HCL Digital Experience platform from Shoemate Interactive. Written in Java, these components extend the platform with a variety of new features. One example is a custom workflow action that can be triggered to send custom HTML email messages with better design and more information than the out-of-the-box email action.

  • Rock Mountain (Blog Engine)
A blog engine built with Next.js, Vercel, Node.js, React, Stencil.js web components, and MongoDB. This blog is powered by an early version of the system. My goal is to keep evolving it until it can be a viable alternative to other blog engines like WordPress, but for now, it is mainly a way for me to stay abreast of modern technology.
